I’m a street and documentary photographer currently based in St. Petersburg, Russia, a member of Observecollective. Documentary photography is storytelleing, if we compare it with literature we could call it prose. Street photography for my always was a kind of poetry. The process is pretty the same: when you compose a poem, you walk and think and combine words on and on, and you have nothing interesting until something inexplicable happens and something like a tap opens in your mind and suddenly you have a finished verse. It’s not you who composed it, it was rather given to you, your brain worked as a receiver. The same happens when you walk streets with camera, but instead of words one thinks pictures. A good photograph is always a gift, or, to say it in another words, a good street photograph never goes from conscious mind, it’s always made with some help of unconscious.
